Staff Bios

Mary Nye Bennett
Artistic Director

Mary Nye Ben­nett, a proud Geor­gia native, has spent the past 16 years as a pro­fes­sion­al in the artis­tic com­mu­ni­ty. She grad­u­at­ed from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Mis­sis­sip­pi in 2001 with a BFA in Musi­cal The­atre per­for­mance. She incred­i­bly proud to call this city her home and is grate­ful to live in a city with such a strong and vibrant Artis­tic com­mu­ni­ty. Local­ly, she has per­formed at the Atlanta Lyric The­atre, the Alliance The­atre, Actors Express, The­atre in the Square and the Auro­ra the­atre. She took her first teach­ing job in 2001 as chore­o­g­ra­ph­er for Rocky Moun­tain Repara­to­ry theatre’s Youth The­atre pro­gram in Grand Lake, Col­orado where she was a com­pa­ny mem­ber for 8 years. She even­tu­al­ly advanced to Direc­tor of the entire Youth The­atre Work­shop pro­gram. Her Atlanta Lyric jour­ney start­ed as an actor in the 2009 pro­duc­tion of Hair­spray. In 2012, Mary joined the Lyric admin­is­tra­tive staff as Direc­tor of Edu­ca­tion and Devel­op­ment. In Decem­ber of 2016, Mary was select­ed to take over as Artis­tic Direc­tor of the Lyric. She is thrilled to be tasked with deliv­er­ing the high­est qual­i­ty enter­tain­ment to her patrons as well as pro­vid­ing enrich­ing artis­tic oppor­tu­ni­ties the great tal­ent in this city!

Stephanie Polhemus
Company Manager

Stephanie Pol­he­mus received a BA in The­atre from the Uni­ver­si­ty of West Geor­gia and an MFA in Scenic Design from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Illi­nois at Urbana-Cham­paign. She is a free­lance Scenic Design­er, Props Design­er, and Stage Man­ag­er who has worked with Williamstown The­atre Fes­ti­val, Geor­gia Shake­speare, Serenbe Play­house, the Atlanta Lyric The­atre, and Geor­gia Ensem­ble The­atre among oth­ers. She is also cur­rent­ly the Res­i­dent Scenic Design­er at Geor­gia Ensem­ble The­atre. She came to the Lyric after spend­ing sev­en years teach­ing the­atre at the Uni­ver­si­ty of West Geor­gia. She first worked with the Lyric in 2011 as a Props Design­er and is thrilled to be join­ing the Lyric team full-time!

Christy Baggett
Development Director

Christy Baggett has called Atlanta home for more than 25 years. Grad­u­at­ing with a degree in Account­ing from Mis­sis­sip­pi State Uni­ver­si­ty, she moved to Geor­gia to start her career with Arthur Ander­sen and even­tu­al­ly tran­si­tioned to a cor­po­rate account­ing and finance posi­tion with Turn­er Broad­cast­ing. Real­iz­ing she had more of a heart for con­nect­ing with oth­ers with­in the cor­po­rate world than crunch­ing num­bers, Christy found her­self work­ing as a finance and account­ing recruiter for Acsys, Inc. where she honed her busi­ness devel­op­ment skills for over 10 years. Christy also has a pas­sion for music and the­atre and has been per­form­ing on Atlanta stages for over 20 years includ­ing pro­duc­tions at the Lyric, the Alliance, The­atri­cal Out­fit, Actor’s Express, The­ater Emory, Stage Door Play­ers, the Lega­cy, among oth­ers. In addi­tion to per­form­ing on stage, Christy has worked in the back­ground of arts orga­ni­za­tions in teach­ing artist and arts admin­is­tra­tion roles and is rep­re­sent­ed by Cross­beam Tal­ent for TV, film and com­mer­cial work. She is thrilled to join the Lyric fam­i­ly in this capac­i­ty and looks for­ward to fur­ther cul­ti­vat­ing the Lyric’s gen­er­ous donor and spon­sor base while strength­en­ing rela­tion­ships with­in the com­mu­ni­ty.

Koby Parker
Box Office Manager

Koby grad­u­at­ed from Rein­hardt Uni­ver­si­ty in 2013 with a BFA in Musi­cal The­atre after attend­ing Short­er Uni­ver­si­ty for the major­i­ty of his col­lege career. He has been work­ing as a pro­fes­sion­al actor since then at places like the Lyric, the Alliance, and Tell-Tale Children’s The­atre. He joined the Lyric team as an actor in Decem­ber of 2012 and then jumped onboard full-time in Octo­ber of 2015 as Box Office Man­ag­er. He could not be more thrilled to be a part of this won­der­ful team!

Jessica De Maria
Marketing and Development Coördinator

Jes­si­ca De Maria is an Atlanta based per­former, writer, edu­ca­tor and Arts Admin­is­tra­tor. Jes­si­ca most recent­ly served as the Devel­op­ment Man­ag­er at Actor’s Express and has been on the staff at Geor­gia Shake­speare and Hori­zon The­atre. She has taught act­ing, improv, pup­pet mak­ing, play­writ­ing and col­lab­o­ra­tive arts with the Alliance The­atre, Geor­gia Ensem­ble The­atre, the Cen­ter for Pup­petry Arts, Serenbe Play­house and Auro­ra The­atre. Jes­si­ca also devotes her time to cre­at­ing orig­i­nal musi­cals with her writ­ing part­ner, Chase Pea­cock. She has appeared in many pro­duc­tions and projects around Atlanta. Jes­si­ca is a proud grad­u­ate of Oglethor­pe Uni­ver­si­ty and holds a mas­ters degree from the Uni­ver­si­ty of South Flori­da.

Liz Campbell
Production Manager

Liz Camp­bell is a grad­u­ate of Nia­gara Uni­ver­si­ty where she earned a BFA in The­atre in 2003. Orig­i­nal­ly from Buf­fa­lo, she has been liv­ing in Atlanta since 2004, work­ing as a Stage Man­ag­er with the Alliance The­atre, The­atri­cal Out­fit, and Hori­zon The­atre among oth­ers. She first joined the Lyric fam­i­ly in 2013 as the Stage Man­ag­er for Rag­time. Liz is hap­py to be part of the team and is excit­ed about aid­ing in the enrich­ment of our astound­ing local artis­tic com­mu­ni­ty.

Troy Parker
House Manager

Troy Park­er, grad­u­at­ed from Rein­hardt Uni­ver­si­ty in 2013 with a BFA in Musi­cal The­atre Per­for­mance. Local­ly, he has per­formed at 7 Stages, Fab­refac­tion The­ater, Stone Moun­tain Park and Tell­tale Chil­dren’s The­atre. Region­al­ly, at the Big­fork Sum­mer Play­house, ArtSpot Edu­ca­tion­al The­atre (Inter­na­tion­al Tour) and in Texas: The Musi­cal Dra­ma at the Palo Duro Canyon. He began work­ing for the Lyric as a Stage Man­ag­er, and was thrilled to accept the offer to become the House Man­ag­er at the begin­ning of 2017! Cur­rent­ly he works full time at Stone Moun­tain Park as the Mar­ket­ing Coör­di­na­tor, with three fur babies, Chip, Del­la, Ranger, and his won­der­ful hus­band, Koby, at home. He is hon­ored to be a part of this fan-freakin-tas­tic and delight­ful team!

Jeff Macko
Orchestra Manager

Jeff Macko received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Per­for­mance from Loy­ola Uni­ver­si­ty, New Orleans. A native of Detroit, Jeff trans­plant­ed to Atlanta in 2000 after spend­ing 26 years play­ing and teach­ing in New Orleans. Since arriv­ing in Atlanta, Jeff has played with The George Carre Band, the Atlanta Wind Sym­pho­ny, Bob Martin’s Take Note Big Band, “Sparklett,” the Peach Trio, the Mount Paran Church of God Orches­tra, the Stage Door Play­ers, the Laigh Lan­g­ley Band, “Group Ther­a­py,” the Rehoboth Bap­tist Church Orches­tra, “Inquir­ing Minds,” The Alan Kni­eter Orches­tra, The Sug­ar­loaf Com­mu­ni­ty Church Band, “Mixed Com­pa­ny,” the John’s Creek Bap­tist Church Orches­tra, and The Atlanta Lyric The­atre.

Elizabeth Neidel Wexler
Group Sales

Eliz­a­beth Nei­del Wexler is a grad­u­ate from Ken­ne­saw State Uni­ver­si­ty where she received a BA in The­atre and Per­for­mance Stud­ies with a minor in Dance. She has per­formed and chore­o­graphed for numer­ous Atlanta the­atre com­pa­nies, includ­ing over 20 Atlanta Lyric The­atre pro­duc­tions. Eliz­a­beth has a group sales back­ground from the Alliance The­atre, Young Audi­ences and the Woodruff Arts Cen­ter, sell­ing tick­ets for their The­atre for Youth pro­duc­tions and Edu­ca­tion Pro­grams. Eliz­a­beth is elat­ed to join the Atlanta Lyric team!
